Haiti’s under-17 women’s team earned a second straight win in the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, cruising past Saint Lucia 5-0 at Rignaal “Jean” Francisca Stadium in Willemstad, Curaçao.

Haitians in Curaçao gathered outside the stadium after the Jan. 27 match, dancing and celebrating the lopsided victory.

Fans also took to social media to praise the young Grenadières following their second consecutive win.

“Those young ladies will make a great generation of soccer,” David Antoine said in a Facebook comment. “Let’s keep an eye on them — they’re onto something.”

With the win, Haiti remained atop Group C with six points and a 2-0-0 record. The team opened group play with a 6-1 rout of Antigua and Barbuda on Jan. 25. Only the top-seeded team in each group advances to the next round of qualifying.

Haiti has two matches remaining in the first round. Les Grenadières face the Cayman Islands on Jan. 31 before closing group play against Guatemala on Feb. 2. Guatemala, also unbeaten, is considered Haiti’s toughest remaining opponent, and the matchup could determine which team advances.

Kyrah Lormil scored twice against Saint Lucia, while Krystel Châtelain, Keisha Gué and Rosalie Saint-Louis each added a goal. Lormil and Gué lead Haiti with three goals apiece through the two matches. Kerdina Lamour has scored twice in the tournament.

Despite the team’s dominant scorelines, some fans remain skeptical and say Haiti’s weaknesses could be exposed against stronger opponents.

“We’re beating easy teams,” Steeve Sene commented on a Facebook post. “If we make the World Cup, we’ll lose all three games. We’re not that good.”

Some fans pointed to poor shot placement and limited power, arguing Haiti benefited from weak goalkeeping by its opponents.

Haiti’s match against the Cayman Islands kicks off at 6 p.m. ET on Jan. 31 at Rignaal “Jean” Francisca Stadium.
