Leader of UN-backed force and first Chadian troops arrive in Haiti as deployment begins
The Gang Suppression Force will deploy up to 5,500 personnel to support Haitian police and army operations against gangs, secure infrastructure and protect civilians. Chad plans to deploy up to 800 soldiers between April and June, as the new multinational force replaces the Kenyan-led mission.
