Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille’s recent visit to the United States largely focused on raising funds from various donor entities. And for good reason: It appears the Multinational Security and Support (MSS) Mission for Haiti is still short of the funds needed for the security effort to take back control from gangs in the country’s capital.

Using information made available via speeches, news releases and other announcements, an analysis by The Haitian Times shows that the mission is short $159 million of the $600 million needed to help to restore security in Haiti. Calls and messages to the Primature and Minister of Finance Cathleen Florestal to clarify were not immediately returned.

Here’s where the publicly known funding stands, as of June 2024.
