The Maribaroux  Plain in northeastern Haïti is undergoing a remarkable transformation seven months after the completion of the newly built irrigation canal on the Massacre River. The region is now flourishing with rice production, increasing local farmers’ incomes by over 35% and revitalizing the economy. The canal’s impact is clear, with previously arid lands becoming productive, reducing the need for expensive generators and lowering rice prices in the local market. The images below highlights that positive change.
