‘Marché de Noël’ in Haiti, Cap-Haïtien in pictures
CAP-HAÏTIEN — As Lionel Benjamin, the legendary singer of Abdenwèl (Christmas Tree), once put it: the sky seems to have another color during the holiday season. It was the case during the Marché de Noël, Creole for Christmas Market—a two-day event held this week by media company Sakapfèt Okap, at Saint-Joseph High School in Haiti’s second-largest city.
From Dec. 23 to 24, children ran, jumped and slid in bouncing houses while adults strolled past dozens of stands set up on the outdoor basketball court. Entrepreneurs offered a range of items for sale, from shiny bracelets to liquor.
Relive the Christmas Spirit from Marché de Noël in this series of images taken on the opening day.
