CAP-HAÏTIEN, Haiti — Loud cheers and applause echoed through the walls of Saint-Joseph High School and spilled onto Street L on March 22. What caused the eruption? A breathtaking celebration of Haiti’s culture.
The second edition of Festival de L’Identité — a cultural showcase honoring Haiti’s heritage — was held at Saint-Joseph High School, featuring traditional dances, songs in Creole, poetry and more. Performers wore blue, red and gold folkloric costumes, with some adorned in the Haitian flag.
Hundreds of attendees, young and old, connected with their roots as they watched the vibrant displays of culture at Festival de L’Identité, French for “Identity Festival.”
