BROOKLYN, New York — Haitian women’s voices rang with power and pride during the Haitian Women Book Talk at Brooklyn College on March 24, an evening dedicated to storytelling, sisterhood, and the literary legacy of Haitian women.

The event, titled the Haitian Women Book Talk, was organized in observance of International Women’s Day. Participants included authors Edwidge Danticat, Ibi Zoboi, Maika and Maritza Moulite, and chef and writer Nadege Fleurimond.

Hosted by the Haitian Studies Institute at Brooklyn College in partnership with the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Humanities at York College, CUNY, the evening featured moderated discussions, book signings, and light refreshments.

The program was dedicated to the memory of Danielle Legros Georges, a Haitian-American poet and former poet laureate of Boston.
