PORT-AU-PRINCE — In a visit to the base of the United Nations-backed Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission, Prime Minister Garry Conille, alongside Kenyan officials, declared a united effort to liberate Haiti from the grip of gangs.
“This is the first contingent, and these officers are ready to assist in implementing Haitian strategies to regain our security. We will reclaim our country—house by house, neighborhood by neighborhood, city by city,” Conille said.
On June 26, Conille toured the MSS base, located near Port-au-Prince International Airport Toussaint Louverture, accompanied by Monica Juma, head of the Kenyan delegation in Haiti, and senior Kenyan officers. The base now hosts the first contingent of Kenyan police who have arrived to bolster Haiti’s security efforts under the UN-backed MSS mission.
During his visit, Conille reaffirmed the government’s commitment to closely working with both the Haitian National Police (PNH) and the newly arrived Kenyan forces. He underscored the importance of strategizing and planning operations aimed at restoring peace and order, emphasizing the critical role of public cooperation.
“East African Kenya heard the suffering of the Haitian people and they came in solidarity with our police,” Conille stated, expressing gratitude for Kenya’s support.
