Haiti’s men’s national soccer team delivered a commanding performance Friday night, defeating Sint Maarten 8-0 securing qualification for the 2025 Gold Cup and a promotion to the coveted CONCACAF League A.

The Grenadiers’ victory was led by standout performances from star strikers Frantzdy Pierrot, who scored a hat trick, and Duckens Nazon, who tallied two goals. Christopher Attys, Markhus Duke Lacroix and Mondy Prunier added insult to injury netting one goal each in the one-sided affair.

With a perfect record of 15 points from five games, Haiti has been dominant in the tournament, scoring 26 goals and achieving a goal difference of +21.

Following the game, the team dedicated their win to Méchack Jérôme, a first-class defender on the national team, who is recovering from a serious domestic accident. The Haitian international soccer player was severely burned in a fire caused by a gas explosion in his house while cooking food on Oct. 31.

“This victory is for Méchack,” said forward Nazon after the match. “His determination inspires us, and we wanted to show that the Grenadiers stand together in every battle.”

Haiti’s fierce reign in the CONCACAF Nations League will come to a close on Monday, Nov. 18, with a match against Puerto Rico in Mayagüez. The Grenadiers will aim to maintain their perfect record as they prepare for the next stage of regional competition.

Haiti’s victory not only secures their place among CONCACAF’s elite but also provides hope for fans who have long awaited a resurgence in Haitian soccer. The Grenadiers’ return to League A is a significant step forward for a team that continues to unite and inspire its nation amid multiple crises.

With its primary objectives reached, the team can now keep its cool as it turns its focus to the Gold Cup, set to take place in 2025. In this event, they aim to continue their impressive run on the international stage and replicate the form demonstrated at the competition in 2019, when Mexico barely eliminated the Haitians in the semifinals at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
