A Brockton man was sentenced to seven years in federal prison for trafficking cocaine and illegal firearms in and around the Boston area, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts announced last week.
Malcolm Desir, 33, pleaded guilty earlier this year to multiple drug and weapons charges stemming from a 2023 investigation involving controlled sales and surveillance. In addition to prison time, Desir will serve three years of supervised release, with one year to be spent under home detention.
Brockton, which is home to a sizeable Haitian American population, has seen a growing number of federal cases targeting narcotics and weapons trafficking. Over the past year, the U.S. Attorney’s Office indicted or sentenced multiple individuals from Brockton, including cases involving fentanyl and firearms.
Desir’s arrest in November 2023 came alongside two co-conspirators, one of whom allegedly supplied him with the firearm he later sold in a sting operation.
The investigation, led by federal agents and Boston police, uncovered more than 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, illegal prescription pills, and firearms at Desir’s residence.
One co-defendant, Alan Robinson, has already been sentenced to 10 years in prison. The third, Cordell Miller, is expected to be sentenced later this week.
