Florida’s early voting period for the 2024 general election begins today, offering residents a convenient way to cast their ballots ahead of the official Election Day on Nov. 5. Registered voters can vote early at designated polling locations across the state or submit their ballots by mail.
In Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties, early voting runs from Oct. 21 to Nov. 3. Voters can visit any early voting center in their county from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Miami-Dade and Broward, and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Monroe County. Voters are required to bring a valid photo ID with a signature to vote in person. If no ID is presented, a provisional ballot can still be cast, and it will count if the signature on the ballot matches the voter’s registration.
Mail-in voting is also available, with secure drop boxes set up at early voting sites and election offices. Voters who choose this method must submit their ballots by 7 p.m. on Election Day. For those preferring in-person voting on Election Day, polls will be open on Nov. 5.
The ballot for the 2024 election includes races for U.S. Senate, all 28 congressional districts, and several state legislative seats. Voters will also decide on six Florida constitutional amendments, including highly debated measures on marijuana legalization and abortion rights.
Other key ballot measures, cover a range of social, political, and economic issues. Amendment 1 seeks to make school board elections partisan by 2026, while Amendment 2 would enshrine a constitutional right to hunt and fish. Amendment 3 proposes legalizing marijuana for adults aged 21 and older, and Amendment 4 aims to establish a state constitutional right to abortion before fetal viability. Amendment 5 would adjust the homestead property tax exemption annually for inflation, and Amendment 6 seeks to repeal public campaign financing for candidates who agree to spending limits. These measures reflect a broad spectrum of voter interests ahead of the 2024 election.
For more information on early voting locations and voting procedures in your county, visit the Florida Department of State website or check with your local Supervisor of Elections. Early voting results will not be released until polls close on Election Day at 7 p.m., with early votes being the first to be counted.
