JACMEL— One month before Jacmel’s official Carnival on Feb. 23, the city is already buzzing with vibrant pre-Carnival festivities every Sunday. Each week, masqueraders in elaborate masks, energetic foot bands, and jubilant revelers flood the streets, transforming the coastal town into a kaleidoscope of color, music, and movement.
These weekly celebrations, rich in creativity and cultural pride, are a prelude to the main event, where Jacmel’s legendary artistry will take center stage. As anticipation builds, thousands are expected to gather along Barranquilla Avenue for the culmination of this beloved tradition.
Captured through the lens of The Haitian Times, these images showcase the electrifying ambiance and artistic mastery that define Jacmel’s Carnival.
