Haiti’s Péligre hydroelectric plant— the country's main electricity supplier, located in the Mirebalais district, which has been under armed gangs' control since March 31— remains shut as residents protest insecurity. Inaugurated in 1971 with a 54-megawatt capacity, production has already dropped to 36 megawatts due to technical issues and low water levels.
