More than 200 young professionals and over 20 companies gathered in Cap-Haïtien on January 23–24, 2026, for the first edition of Cap Talent Lab, an employment-focused initiative organized by Zero Loss Consulting at the Hôtel Roi Christophe.

The event aimed to bridge the gap between skilled professionals in Haiti’s Grand Nord region and businesses seeking qualified talent in a challenging national environment.

Addressing a Growing Skills Mismatch

As instability continues to affect parts of the country, northern Haiti has increasingly attracted young graduates and professionals. However, a persistent mismatch remains between available skills and employer expectations.

Many companies report difficulties finding suitable candidates, while qualified job seekers struggle to access structured recruitment opportunities.

Cap Talent Lab was designed to address this disconnect by creating a formal platform where pre-selected candidates could meet directly with recruiters.

Structured Networking and Direct Interviews

The two-day event combined strategic discussions and practical engagement.

The first day featured an official launch attended by organizers, partners, and members of the press. Zero Loss Consulting outlined its objectives and long-term vision for strengthening workforce alignment in Haiti.

The second day focused on operational activities. A panel discussion brought together private sector leaders and academic representatives to examine labor market realities in northern Haiti and identify key competencies currently in demand.

Practical workshops included mock interviews and sessions on professional readiness, while direct recruitment interviews took place throughout the day.

Organizers have not yet released data regarding confirmed hires, but several participating companies indicated that follow-up discussions are ongoing.

A Potential Model for Regional Economic Development

Zero Loss Consulting, a Haitian firm specializing in operational efficiency and professional recruitment, stated that the initiative was developed based on field observations and data gathered through its consulting work with local organizations.

The positive response from businesses and participants suggests that similar initiatives could be expanded to other regions, including Les Cayes, Gonaïves, and Port-au-Prince.

For Haiti’s diaspora communities in the United States and Canada, the event highlights ongoing private-sector efforts to strengthen local employment ecosystems and reduce structural barriers between education and job markets.

As youth employment remains a critical factor in Haiti’s long-term stability and economic recovery, initiatives like Cap Talent Lab reflect growing regional engagement in workforce development.
