Haitian American model teams up with Korean beauty entrepreneur on skin care line for women of color

Nehemie Pierre first met  Park Chul-kyun from the other side of the camera.

She had modeled for Nutique, Park’s haircare brand, years before she approached him again in 2025 with a different idea. This time, Pierre was not looking for another campaign. She wanted to talk about what she believed was missing from Korean skin care.

As a Black woman and longtime consumer of K-beauty products, said she trusted the quality but often did not see deeper skin tones reflected in the industry’s marketing — or her own concerns, including hyperpigmentation, dry patches and white cast from sunscreen, addressed in ways that felt specific to her.

“From what I researched, there weren’t products that catered to my skin care needs,” Pierre said. That conversation with Park eventually became a business partnership.

Earlier this summer, Pierre and Chul-kyun launched wolGlow, building the brand around a simplified skin care routine and K-Beauty products for women of color. 

“Melanin-rich skin has too often been overlooked in formulation, testing, and representation,” he said, adding that wolGlow’s products were “designed to work in harmony with deeper skin tones.”

The products are cruelty-free, and its PDRN serum is certified vegan. PDRN is commonly derived from salmon or trout and is used in skin care products marketed for hydration, soothing inflammation and supporting skin renewal; however, wolGlow says its formula does not contain animal-derived PDRN.

Pierre said the brand’s packaging was designed with its intended audience in mind. The products come in a light, buttery yellow with chocolate-brown lettering, colors she said were chosen to complement deeper skin tones. The four products are numbered in the order they are meant to be used, part of the company’s effort to make the routine easier to follow.

“Korean skin care can have between 15 and 20 steps in one [routine]. For me, I get overwhelmed,” Pierre said. 

After asking friends and family about their skin care habits, Pierre said she got similar responses: “I don’t know what to use. I don’t know when to use it.” 

The routine is meant to be straightforward and easy to use, she said, joking that she could be lazy about skin care herself. The products contain ingredients including niacinamide, vitamin C and vegan PDRN, which are intended to address hyperpigmentation and dry patches — concerns Pierre said are common among women of color.

The Haitian American content creator focused on gentle skin care and products that aim to repair the skin barrier, hydrate the skin, and address scarring. 

In addition to their four-step daily routine kit, wolGlow recently released a daily soft powder cleanser that activates with water and a cooling hair serum – along with a scalp roller that allows the user to treat their scalp directly. 

“Throughout this whole process, we have been intentional [about] diverse skin tones, intentionally made for melanin-rich skin,” Pierre said. “We wanted to create a lane for diverse skin tones for men and for women. I will continue to make it my mission to advocate for us through this K-Beauty line.”

Pierre said she chose the K-beauty route over other options because of the industry’s ingredient standards.

“Korean beauty has surpassed French beauty,” she said. “What I love about Korean beauty is that their priority is your wellness. Their priority is making sure that their products are not affecting you as a person, your organs, your skin. They provide quality ingredients.”
