In celebration of Caribbean American Heritage Month, the Haitian Roundtable (HRT) is presenting a Haitian Art Exhibition at the Consulate General of France in New York on June 20.
The exhibition, hosted under the patronage of Damien Laban, Acting Consul General of France in New York, the Consulate General of France in New York, will feature the works of 31 artists of Haitian descent, with each piece offering a glimpse into the soul of Haitian art, reflecting the country’s rich history and vibrant spirit.
Featured artists include the likes of Jean Eddy Beauvoir, Patricia Brintle and Florence Louis-Charles.
Proceeds from the exhibition will support HRT and its work. The nonprofit, founded in 2008, promotes the contributions of Haitians and Haitian Americans across the United States.
Select guests will be able to attend the collector’s preview and VIP reception, where they’ll be able to see the artwork before it opens to the general public. They’ll also have the opportunity to meet and speak with the featured artists.
Complimentary wine, soft drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served and will feature the culinary delights of Chef Nadege Fleurimond.
Over the last 16 years, the organization has played a vital role in enriching the legacy of the Haitian diaspora through initiatives focused on leadership, community development, and cultural preservation.
Their signature event, the 1804 List of Haitian-American Changemakers and Ones to Watch, recognizes changemakers of Haitian heritage in the United States. Over the years, it has inducted dozens of Haitian Americans, including creative director and designer Kerby Jean-Raymond; playwright and actor, Dominque Morisseau, and White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre.
